About the 2026-2030 Sustainable Jobs Action Plan 

Sustainable Jobs Action Plans lay out the programming and projects that the federal government will implement to support workers and communities in the transition to a net-zero economy (1). As mandated in the Canadian Sustainable Jobs Act, these Action Plans must be delivered every five years (1). The 2026-2030 Sustainable Jobs Action Plan is due to be published by the end of 2025, though there may be some delays in its publication due to the timing of the 2025 federal election (1).

Shake Up The Establishment’s Key Recommendations

1. The federal government must work with external partners, including community-based organizations and other levels of government, to deliver sustainable jobs programs to and funding. 
2. The federal government must ensure the distribution of funds to deliver sustainable jobs programming to all interested communities. 
3. The federal government must set up data collection mechanisms that prioritize the accessibility and equity of sustainable jobs programming. 
4. The federal government must create a comprehensive funding program to offer a pension-bridging program for oil and gas workers who will retire earlier than planned and income support, education, and reskilling for younger workers staying in the labour market. 
5. The federal government must meet directly with affected communities. 
6. The federal government must fund the establishment and operation of locally-driven transition centres and other transition efforts in most-affected communities. 
7. The federal government must advance and fully fund a Youth Climate Corps.
